Things to do in Henningsvær

Henningsvær is a fishing village built across several small islets off Austvågøya, connected to the mainland by a narrow stretch of road that becomes crowded in the high season. Its football pitch, wedged between the harbour and the sea, is one of the more photographed spots in the archipelago.

The village has also developed a small scene of galleries and studios alongside its working harbour, where fishing boats still operate. Streets are narrow and parking is limited, so the approach by car takes longer than the distance suggests.

Skrei fishing and the drying racks used for stockfish are part of the working backdrop of the village, alongside its newer role drawing visitors.
