Things to do in Sortland

Sortland is known locally as the "blue town" for the colour scheme applied to many of its buildings, and its bridge crosses the sound that separates Hinnøya from the rest of Vesterålen. The town works as the crossroads of the region, with routes running north to Andenes and Andøya and south toward the Lofoten islands. Sortland is also used as a base for safaris further into Vesterålen, including moose safaris on the mainland side. As with the rest of the region, it sits above the Arctic Circle, with the same seasonal swings between the midnight sun and the polar night.
