Things to do in Leknes
Leknes is the practical centre of Vestvågøya, with the island's airport, its main shops, and a cruise port used by visiting ships. It works well as a base for the beaches along the island's north coast — Haukland, Uttakleiv, and Unstad, the last known for Arctic surfing — as well as for Stamsund and Ballstad to the south. The Lofotr Viking Museum at Borg, built around an excavated Viking-age longhouse, sits a short distance from town. Leknes itself is more functional than scenic, geared toward errands, transport, and stocking up rather than sights in the town centre.
