Things to do in Narvik

Narvik is a gateway to the Lofoten islands by road and by rail, reached from the south via the E10 and connected to Sweden by the Ofoten railway line. The town's history is tied to iron ore shipping and to the Second World War, when it was the site of major battles, and a war museum in Narvik covers that period. Surrounded by fjords and mountains, Narvik also sits close to Harstad and the Evenes airport, one of the entry points used to reach Lofoten and Vesterålen. For travellers coming overland, Narvik is often the last sizeable town before the archipelago itself begins.
