Things to do at the Trollfjord

The Trollfjord cuts two kilometres into the mountains of Austvågøya, with an entrance only around 100 metres wide flanked by near-vertical rock walls. It is reached by boat, usually on trips departing from Svolvær, and is one of the reasons that town serves as a base for this part of the coast.

Different types of boats make the crossing — larger sightseeing vessels and smaller RIBs — and the choice affects how close to the walls a trip can get and how exposed passengers are to weather. Conditions inside the fjord can change quickly, and access depends on the season and the sea state on the day.

Sea eagles are often seen along this stretch of coast, drawn by the fishing boats that also use these waters.
